JLI has the experience and expertise to analyse your tack cloth for cost justification, comformity to specifications, quality & consistency of both 'tack' and cloth, and many other properties that can affect your actual cost and performance. Send your samples and questions to our shipping address at 2664 W Eastwood Ave, Chicago IL 60625-2919 or contact us at info@jlyman.com

Our simplest analysis for cost basis can include:

  • piece size and weight, and conformity of these to advertised specifications
  • 'mesh' or yarn count of woven cotton gauze, or "cheesecloth", that is commonly used in tack cloths and its conformity to advertised specification or independent standards (USP/BP/EP)
  • grade of textile finish (bleached or unbleached 'greige', scoured or unscoured with impurities, finished or linting raw edges, etc.)

A more complex anaysis may include:

  • weight of yarns (denier)
  • tack volatility (drying vs. non-drying properties)
  • tack transferability ("cohesive" quality)

The most analytical methods can include:

  • chemical quantitative and qualitative analysis of tack treatment (e.g., by spectrophotometry, extraction from cloth & resin materials separation) and of cloth (e.g., cellulosic vs.synthetic textile)
  • cloth construction type (woven cotton, knitted polyester, spunbonded polypropylene non-woven, etc.)
  • tack adhesion quality (e.g., PSTC-6 and ASTM D3121)
  • fiber & loose thread generation (ASTM F50-83)
  • static electrical properties (NFPA 99)
  • other tests to your needs...
